Maskin' My Way Downtown
Long time no mask! Welcome to August, welcome to summertime me! I'm trying two new classic style slap 'er on rinse 'er off masks.
First up we got that cute new Tata Harper Clarifying Mask
What it is:
- A non drying clarifying mask
What it does:
- Non drying clarification to clear skin, remove impurities and gently exfoliate
What it's full of:
- Raw Honey Enzymes: moisturize and cleanse
- AHA super fruit blend: chemical exfoliation to remove impurities and blemishes
- Quartz Sand Micro-crystals: physical exfoliation to smooth
- Sooting Super Seed Blend: helps reduce redness
How she works:
- apply to clean dry skin in a thick even layer
- leave on 15-20 minutes
- massage with warm water to activate Micro-crystals
- rinse with warm water and pat dry
*I got this as a sample, did not purchase it* I left this little green monster on for a Full 20 minutes. The formulation def does not dry down which it does mention. I felt some tingling around my nose crevice and chin where I know I have some sensitivity. It was nothing super aggressive or uncomfortable. I will be honest I'm not a huge fan of how it smells, its almost like old plants? When rinsing the micro crystals felt a lot like the Aesop quartz facial polish which was nice, and it did seem to rinse easily after scrubbing it around. Afterwards my skin was less red and it was very smooth but immidiately felt tight and dry so I followed with a new hydrating mask which I will tell you about...
Right now! It's the brand spanking new clay masks from the mother land Sephora! I grabbed the Purple Clay for moisturizing and soothing.
What it is:
- a new clay based mask
What it does:
- soothes and hydrates the skin
What it's full of:
- natural purple clay to soothe and detoxify
How she works:
- apply to clean dry skin
- leave on 15 mins
- rinse with warm water
Okay so like I'm already obsessed with the Sephora collection sheet mask so I was amped to see these little dudes. *disclaimer* I am using this after an obvious intense mask. So when I first applied after rinsing off the Tata Harper it was low key an intense burning sensation. I decided to ride it out to see where this would go. After about 7 minutes the burning was totally gone and it actually was a pleasant cool feeling. I left this mask on for the recommended 15 minutes and like the package says it does not really dry down. It does smell oddly like lettuce or maybe cucumber slices but it is very faint. The rinsing processes definitely takes a minute. The water just seems to push the mask around versus remove it from the skin so I would suggest this as a mask to be removed in the shower. Despite how much the mask burned when I first put it on there was no redness! My skin felt soft and smooth but not particularly hydrated after removal.
I followed this whole masking journey with a nice hydration rich routine. I used my Korres Golden Krocus Elixir, Skinfood Royal Honey Propolis Essence, Kiehl's Hydro- Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate, Pixi Beauty Sleep Cream and PTR Acne Spot Treatment. My skin literally feels like magic. It is taking all my will power not to touch my freshly clarified and moisturized visage.
